Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park, shortly after heavy flooding damaged roads and closed large portions of the park. We gathered the extended Andsersen family at the West Yellowstone KOA for a few days and toured the park. We had the good fortune of seeing plenty of wildlife, including a mother grizzly bear with 2 young cubs (from a safe 400mm distance), a blue heron, deer, bison, and various raptors including a bald eagle.
Since this was John's first time in Yellowstone, and Deana hadn't visited since youth, we tried to enjoy nature and the beauty of the park rather than concentrating on photography. We actually spent very little time fiddling with cameras, so the images you see here were taken organically during our travel rather than being carefully orchestrated. Deana captured the video of the lone deer crossing the river on her cellphone just moments after we entered the park, and Yellowstone never stopped amazing us after that.
